Annual Pie Run Celebrates Running, Community, and Cars!
On Sunday, November 24th, the Gerstell Academy community gathered for the 23rd Annual "Pie Run," hosted on the Gerstell campus. Alumni, faculty, parents, students, staff, and local community members came together to compete in a 5K race or enjoy a one-mile fun run/walk, with the chance to win pies just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The sun shone brightly on Sunday, November 24th, as the Gerstell Academy campus hosted the 23rd Annual Pie Run—a beloved event that blends fitness, community spirit, and a little friendly competition. The event saw participation from a wide range of Gerstell Academy's community members, including alumni, faculty, parents, students, and staff. Attendees had the option to race in a 5K run or take part in the more relaxed one-mile fun run/walk, with the added incentive of winning pies, perfect for the upcoming Thanksgiving festivities.
In a special addition this year, the Pie Run included a community car show for the second consecutive year. The Alumni House parking lot was filled with an impressive variety of cars—ranging from classic models to modern sports cars—allowing guests to admire the vehicles and chat with their owners. Participants in the car show had the opportunity to vote for their favorite vehicle, adding a fun interactive element to the day.
The Gerstell Academy Parent Association (GAPA) played a key role in organizing the car show and assisted the Academy’s Physical Education department with event logistics. Upper School volunteers from Gerstell’s Falcon Outreach program also contributed by staffing the 5K course and ensuring that participants navigated the cross-country terrain safely. Meanwhile, theLower School Running Club joined in on the excitement, participating in the run and eagerly anticipating next year’s event.
With clear skies and a lively atmosphere, the 23rd Annual Pie Run successfully brought together a diverse group of participants, all united in their support for Gerstell Academy and a love of community. The event was a perfect way to kick off the holiday season while celebrating health, fun, and the bonds that make the Gerstell community so special.
