The Gerstell Academy community is celebrating the accomplishments of our students with our winter concert series. On Tuesday, December 3rd, the strings concert opened with selections from the book Elements of Music performed by the 5th and 6th and included Dreidel, Jingle Bells, and Ode to Joy, among others. The 7th and 8th grade strings performed selections including Winter Stars, Fury, Colorful Sunrise, and several more. The Upper School strings ensemble included Themesfrom the Nutcracker, Orchid, Flight, and Winterfall, among others.
The Middle and Upper School chorus and instrumental concerts followed on Wednesday, December 4th in the Paterakis Athletic Center Gymnasium.
Students in the Middle and Upper Schools opened the evening with a choral music concert led by Mrs. Jenna Daly, Chair of the Performing Arts Department. The Middle School chorus performed a variety of selections including Battle Hymn for Gettysburg. The Upper School chorus presented several selections including Once Upon a December, and Deep in the Meadow.
The concert continued with instrumental presentations by the 5th and 6th who opened with selections from Elements of Music, an entertaining snippet which demonstrated their skills and abilities. The performance included “Jolly Old St. Nicholas, and the among others. The 7th and 8th grade band performed Theme from “Symphony #1”, The Greatest Generation, and Smithsonian Suite, Mvt 1 among others. The Upper School band closed the concert with selections including Fanfare Esprit, Horkstow Grange and Across the Alaskan Snow.
