Gerstell Athletic Department Hosts Upper School Fall Athletic Awards

On Wednesday, December 11th, the Gerstell Athletic Department invited students, faculty, coaches, staff, and parents to celebrate the fall athletics season and honor the efforts of our dedicated athletes. The event, held in the Deborah Paterakis Gymnasium, was hosted by Mr. Phil Gilotte, Athletic Director, and featured awards from the Volleyball, Soccer, and Cross-Country coaches. 

The event kicked off with Mr. Gilotte’s warm welcome before the individual coaches took the stage to present awards for each sport. The coveted Falcon Award and Coaches' Award were given to athletes who exemplified dedication, sportsmanship, and excellence both on and off the field. As each coach introduced their award recipients, they shared heartfelt comments from teammates and elaborated on why these athletes stood out during the season. 

The volleyball team’s incredible performance was particularly highlighted as Mr. Gilotte acknowledged the IAAM “C” Conference Girls’ Volleyball Champions, with the team’s efforts being applauded for their outstanding achievements. In addition, individual players who were named to the “All-Conference” team received recognition for their excellence in the sport. Beyond the athletes, Mr. Gilotte took a moment to recognize the vital contributions of the team managers. Their tireless efforts and commitment were acknowledged, and their perseverance and teamwork were celebrated as crucial components of the teams' successes. 

In his closing remarks, Mr. Gilotte extended his gratitude to the athletes for their hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship throughout the fall season. He congratulated all the athletes for their participation and resilience, emphasizing the importance of effort and collaboration in achieving success as a team. 
The event was a meaningful tribute to the achievements of our athletes and a wonderful way to close out the fall sports season at Gerstell Academy.
