Gerstell Academy Announces New Varsity Volleyball Head Coach
Gerstell Academy is proud to announce an exciting new chapter for our Varsity Volleyball program.
First, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to Coach Eric Zak, who has decided to step down after five outstanding years leading our Varsity Volleyball team. Since the program’s inception in 2020, Coach Zak has been a pillar of leadership, passion, and commitment. Under his guidance, our student-athletes have grown tremendously, both on and off the court, consistently improving each season.

Coach Zak’s dedication culminated in an incredible IAAM C-Conference Championship this past fall, a historic achievement for the Falcons. Thanks to his efforts, Gerstell Academy Volleyball will proudly compete in the IAAM B-Conference beginning next season. We are deeply grateful for Coach Zak’s lasting impact on our program and community.
Looking ahead, we are thrilled to welcome Ms. Megan Badorrek as the new Head Coach of Gerstell Academy Varsity Volleyball.
Coach Badorrek brings a wealth of experience and a strong connection to the Carroll County volleyball community. A Winters Mill High School graduate, she played club volleyball while attending the University of Tennessee and has spent the past two seasons coaching at Winters Mill. In addition, she currently coaches club volleyball for Mission 4:10 (formerly FCA Volleyball).
Her coaching philosophy centers on player development, teamwork, and creating a positive, learning-focused environment. With an emphasis on fundamental skills and strategic play, Coach Badorrek is passionate about helping student-athletes grow both as players and leaders.
We are excited for Coach Badorrek’s leadership as she builds upon the strong foundation of our volleyball program and prepares our athletes for the next level of competition.
