Gerstell Academy Shines at the Carroll County Battle of the Books!
Gerstell Academy proudly participated in this year’s Carroll County Battle of the Books with two dedicated teams: The Sigma Llama Readers and The Wild Reading Guanacos. Since late September, these students have shown remarkable commitment, reading ten selected books and preparing diligently by both writing and answering challenging “In what book?” questions.
Their hard work paid off as The Wild Reading Guanacos (4th and 5th graders) secured an impressive third-place finish among 9 teams (61 students!), earning the bronze medal! Cheered on by the Sigma Llama Readers (4th grade team) and a spirited crowd of parents, siblings, and former team members, our students demonstrated passion, conviction, and persistence—embracing the challenge beyond the classroom while navigating the rigors of fourth and fifth grades. Along with their teacher, Mrs. Patty Lutton, the teams express a huge note of appreciation to our parent coaches: Mrs. Christie Hall, Mrs. Alexandra Jones, and Mrs. Kayte Jenkins.
