Gerstell Academy Recognizes Honor Society Inductees

On Monday, October 7th Gerstell Academy students, parents, faculty, and administration gathered to honor students inducted into the the National Honor Society as well as the Gerstell Academy Honor Societies. The event took place in the Alumni House and recognized students for their academic achievement.

The National Honor Society is a nationwide organization for high school students with selection based on four criteria: academic achievement, leadership, community service, and character. At Gerstell Academy, among other attributes, students must maintain a 3.6 grade point average. Overall, 21 students were inducted into the National Honor Society. It is estimated that over one million students nationwide are members of this prestigious group!

Gerstell Academy also celebrated students inducted into seven other National Honor Societies to include Spanish, Math, Science, Social Studies, English, Music, and Art. The qualification to be inducted into one, or more, of these honor societies depends upon the specific honor society. For instance, to be inducted as a member of the Spanish National Honor Society a student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average, be enrolled in a Spanish class at or above Spanish 4 and must remain enrolled in a Spanish class during senior year. Students inducted into the National Mathematics Honor Society must have completed the equivalent of two years of college preparatory mathematics, including algebra and/or geometry, and have completed or are enrolled in a third year of college preparatory mathematics.

Congratulations to these exemplary young leaders!
